Try converting an ordinary wooden or chain-link fence into a lush vertical garden. For a wooden fence, affix Root Pouch vertical pouches with one 2”-3” long 3/8” lag screw and one 3/8” fender washer for each pouch grommet. To transform chain link into a beautiful green space, simply connect vertical pouches to the top rail with hose clamps, u-bolts or industrial zip ties.
You can also transform any indoor or outdoor wall into a living wall. To attach vertical pouches to brick or concrete, you will need one 3”-4” long 3/8” concrete anchor and one 3/8” fender washer for each pouch grommet, and a 3/8 Masonry drill bit. For a wooden wall, you will need one 2”-3” Long 3/8” lag thread and one hood/eye screw for each pouch grommet.
To build larger vertical structures, construct a grid system and attach the grid to a wall or free-standing frame. Attach vertical pouches to the grid using ‘s’ hooks or industrial zip ties.
To plant each vertical pouch, fill with approximately 4” of good potting soil. Place plants with the largest root ball in the pouch first (a 10- to 12-inch plant), and fill in remaining area with potting soil and up to four side plants of four to six inches. Each pouch can hold a maximum of one cubic foot of soil.
Roof top gardens are beautiful additions to any building.
